Asturias lies on the north coast of Spain along the Bay of Biscay …sandwiched between Cantabria on the east and Galicia on the west. It is blessed with amazing scenery , the Picos of Europa covering vast areas inland and many beautiful beaches along the coast, hence the area lends itself to a vast range of activities form lazying on the beach to biking, walking mountaineering, kayaking just to name but a small variety… all ranging from easy to challenging.
The property is located in the hamlet of “El Valle”(Carreño) …a farming area with traditional gardens where locals grow seasonal vegetables… and corn which is hung from the “horreos” (grain barns unique to Asturias) to dry before being fed the hens!
The holiday flat is in a recently converted barn adjoining the family home. It consists of a modern kitchen diner with usual facilities ….hob, microwave, fridge, plus a dining table, chairs , couch and television….
Two bedrooms, similar sized, each have two single beds…some simple furnishings for clothing etc
Bathroom has a shower and a washing machine is located in the hall outside the front door.. clean linen and towels are provided.
Outside is a terrace with seating adjoining a large garden with fruit trees…
El Valle is located 25 minutes from Oviedo/Asturias airport which has daily flights from Stansted with Easyjet.. car hire facilities available ..
The airport has excellent links with many cities inside Spain, so if Stansted is not an option… Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante, to name some of the cities with connecting flights… Santander is the closest alternative airport, about 2.5 hours away.
If driving, ferries berth at Santander from the south of England.
The property is located ideally …Gijon is 20 minutes away, Oviedo (the capital of Asturias, well worth a visit..) 30 mins…beaches range from 15 to 30 minutes.. .. ask if you want to do something particular and we will do our best to find it!
People like to use the flat as a base and do day trips all around the county.. or just sit outside and read, the choices are vast!!
