for great beaches, combined with a region that is beautiful and historical to explore.
About townThe town itself is perfectly equipped with all the amenities you could wish for on your holiday, you
certainly wouldn’t go short of a thing; in fact Vinaros is the most important shopping centre in the northern area of Castellon.
The historic town dates back to the Moorish occupation and has grown into a fishing port and busy municipality.

Places to visitWithin the town is the 16th century church, the Shrine of our Lady of Mercy, the Torre de los Moros (the Moorish Tower) and the Torre de Sol del Riu.
There is an interesting archaeological site 6 kilometres outside of Vinaros, close to the hermitage of the Misericordia. The site is said to date back to the 7th century.
If you want to explore the natural beauty of the region then we recommend taking a trip to the El Puig mountain, which is again located around 6 kilometres outside of town and makes for a beautiful hiking or rambling excursion.
If you enjoy scuba diving or sailing, then take a trip over to the tiny Islas Columbretes, small volcanic islands, which make for perfect diving conditions.
BeachesThe main beach is El Forti, which stretches out from the port; 800 metres of beautiful golden sand. Here you can relax and enjoy the beautiful climate of the Costa de Azahar, or partake in a number of different water sport activities on offer.
There are also a number of divine unspoilt coves in the area, with beautiful crystal clear water and rocky seabeds, perfect for scuba diving excursions.
Festivals Each year around the 15th of August the town of Vinaros celebrates the "King Prawn Festival", which honours the delicious shellfish that are famous in the region.
The annual carnival is held in February when residents dress up in colourful costumes and much fun is had by all.
CuisineThe famous Vinaros Prawn is used in many of the local dishes, which generally consist of rice and seafood. Other ingredients include crab, mussels and oysters, which are all locally caught.
Another delicious speciality of the region is Fideua, which is a style of Paella served with noodles.
