Javea is a coastal town situated on the east coast of mid-Spain in the district of Valencia. The town has both Moorish and Roman connections and has grown from the original town on the hill beneath Mount Montgo (the local landmark). Javea Old Town is situated in the centre of Javea, with the main church and old covered market as its focal points. The Old Town has been refurbished in recent years and includes pedestrian areas with restaurants and shops. You can see some of the old City walls within the pavement. Close to the centre are small streets in which you will find a number of banks, the main post office and on Thursdays there is a town market which occupies the main car park to the north of the Old Town.
To the far end of the Port is the main marina which also includes a thriving commercial fishing centre. To the frontage of the port, adjacent to the pebble beach, are further pedestrian areas and many restaurants and shops for exploring.
Or explore the Moorish village of Guadalest, the Algar Falls and the caves at Benidoleig are also within easy reach. The local bodegas in Jalon are famous and are excellent places for wine tasting. For a special evening, visit the Benidorm Palace for dinner and a spectacular cabaret show.
