Good points: The property is spacious and could comfortably fit 6 people (though there is only bathroom). It is well equipped with electrical equipment including a dishwasher, a washing machine, 2 up to date televisions, WIFI and a music system. The property is convenient for the local town (only 10 minutes walk from centre and supermarket) and 10 minutes to the local beach by car. It is pleasantly situated and has a reasonable outlook ( interrupted by train lines) and you are able to see the sea in the distance. There is lots of some crockery, but not enough of others. The villa is clean and well stocked with cleaning products for your use. Bad points: Overall we felt that there are some basic points letting down what could be an excellent property. When we queried some of these points with the property management company we booked through we were told that the owner was “not the most professional person in all aspects, but she is kind and she is doing her best”. I’m afraid that when you’re paying a lot of money to stay somewhere that being kind but unprofessional is not good enough. We were also told that perhaps we were choosing to highlight the negatives rather than positives of the property. We hope that both the property management team and the owner will perhaps reflect on some of our information and suggestions provided here. What were the basic points? 1. We found it unusual that there was no information booklet in the villa and as such we were clueless as to where to leave the rubbish, what to recycle, opening times of shops etc etc. 2. We were handed 13 keys to the property, with no indication of which key unlocked which door. A colour coded system in an information booklet could solve this. Plus a can of WD40 to in the cupboard to prevent keys from getting stuck in the locks and the locks opening smoothly every time. 3. Having a cup to drink coffee from that was not chipped in several places. Ikea sell tough non offensive, not expensive replacements. 4. Bins, there were two bins in the whole property: one in the kitchen with no lid and a small flip top bin in the bathroom. How much does it cost to replace a plastic bin? 5. The pool : in a hot climate it makes sense that we would use the pool a lot and this was one of the major reasons for renting this property. The pool is positioned at the bottom of the driveway and as such it collects the debris blown down the drive. We were more than happy to fish out leaves etc. from the pool, but we were rather concerned that there seemed to be no-one checking chemicals, removing dirt from the bottom of the pool or green algae collecting around the edges. We raised this with the agency and an attempt was made to remove some of the algae, but we strongly believe someone should be looking at a pool every few days, not just when they are asked to. Alternatively make it clear how the pool is maintained in an information folder to give peace of mind. The pool has a good terrace surrounding it. Unfortunately a lot of it is painted black boards which are poorly fixed down causing trip hazards and are very hot underfoot. The sun loungers were in a poor state (though 3 new ones were bought after we mentioned it). There was only one parasol available and this was broken beyond repair meaning that there was no shade around the pool. There is plenty of shade elsewhere but it is nice to be with people around the pool - despite us mentioning this it was not rectified and we were told it is an issue because people do not lower it after use. Perhaps alternative shade methods need to be looked at : shade sails, a small wooden gazebo with a vine covering it? Or a deposit taken so broken items can be replaced. To leave a completely broken unusable parasol appears unprofessional and complacent management of the property. 6. We found the property uncomfortably hot and stuffy at night despite shutting the shutters during the day and opening everything up at night to try to get a breeze going through the house. A simple electric fan in each bedroom would help this. Following email discussions with the property agents about the above points, some positive points about the property were highlighted to us, for example: ‘It is a completely isolated property’. We feel it is better described as well situated rather than isolated as it is on the edge of town. There is a small road which runs past the villa gate, cars and people regularly go past the property. The gate overlooks the pool and you are left feeling that you are in full view of passersby within about 20 metres. The large gates could possibly be covered to provide privacy. The garage on site is used by other people who just randomly appear. There are also 2 train lines nearby which have a regular service, which you are aware of but do get used to; plus you can hear the sound of the nearby motorway in the background, and the regular barking of dogs. We do not believe this is isolation. All said and done, we did enjoy staying here, but just felt frustrated with the lack of maintenance of the property and arrogance that perhaps we did not appreciate what we had for the price we paid. As you can see some of the things that need putting right would cost so little. Sadly we would not return.

We would like to add our take on it, as we find a few points very unfair, not to us, but as to the owner Tona, who is the kindest person, and more importantly, attended the complaints made by Chris, as soon as he contacted us. The thing is that many of our property owners do not speak English, so we help solving big and small problems, when we have guests in the houses we collaborate with. We have found dentists, organised activities, chefs to come and many other things, and we actually really try to help our guests enjoying their stay. In our opinion, what happened is that Chris contacted us, because one sunbed was broken, one parasol was broken and I quote" the larger cups that we have are all chipped". We explained that parasols easily brake, because the guests forget to close them when it is windy. We contacted Tona, and within 1 day, she had delivered new sunbed and a new parasol. She is the kindest person, and I simply do not understand, why Chris did not appreciate that she solved this problem immediately. With regards to the situation of the house, things are of course very normative. The house has no neighbours, it has a big garden with olive- and fruit trees and a nice view. To one side, a mountain and to the other on the other side of a dry river (300-400 meters away), the village. It is correct that a small gravel road leads to 5-6 vegetable gardens, where, some nice old men from the local village go in the daytime to grow some tomatoes and other things. We actually stayed in the house in June, and we found them very kind and welcoming, for us a nice experience. Moreover, there is a wall and then the open gate, and the pool is not near the gate, as the pool is on the side of the house away from the gate. The house is as isolated as it gets, if you also want to have a village within walking distance and the beach 3 km. away. It is true that the high speed train pass on a viaduct about 1 km. from the house, but it really does not make a lot of sound. The other train line has 3 trains per day... With regards to the motorway, we cannot remember to have heard it during our stay, but the wind-direction might have been different. We have a lot of more isolated houses, but then you will be more inland with longer distances to other things and nothing within walking distance. We have offered this house to our guests for 4 years now, full all summer, and as mentioned, we have stayed there ourselves. We have until this case, only had very happy guests and even a couple of repeating groups, and the owner Tona will do everything she can to make you have a nice stay. So in our normative opinion, if you want to stay near the beach and still very private, come to Masia dels Molineros :-)

Ce n'est pas un chateau!!! Les propriétaires sur place sont très sympa par contre le tarif est cher surtout vis à vis de la literie (canapé convertible). La plage à proximité est super, propre, pas trop fréquenté et la température de l'eau est très agréable.
