Baza and the local region date back to the Phoenicians, and have been occupied through the centuries by the Greeks, Carthaginians, Visigoths, Romans and of course the Moors. Cultural attractions
Baza has been declared a National Historic Interest for its historical monuments, including the Muslim Medina and its ancient fortress, Alcazabar.
There are many cultural more attractions including the Arab Baths, the old quarter with its Moorish street titles and the civil and military architecture that adorns the town.
The historic sculpture, La Dama de Baza, was excavated from an Iberian necropolis, just outside of Baza. The work dates back to 400BC and is not only historically important, but it is an amazingly beautiful piece of work and in good condition.
