Albondon

The small, historical town of Albondon was once an important town during the Arab occupation.

Located on the Costa Tropical in the province of Granada, in Andalusia; today this typical whitewashed village is a thriving agricultural area and enjoys a privileged location.

History
The town was in its splendour during the Arab occupation, being an important town for farming. During the 19th century the area became a large producer of wine and sultanas, and from there
the population grew.

About town
The town is very laid back and provides basic amenities, shops, bars and restaurants, for your stay.

The pretty parish church of San Luis is home to the famous sculpture of the Virgin Mary sculpted by Jose de
Mora.

Places to visit
The ski resort of the Sierra Nevada is located just 25 kilometres away and beautiful Costa Tropical
coastline is a spectacular place to explore.

Eating out
There are several bars and restaurants in town, which serve both local and international cuisines. You definitely have to sample the local wine.

Some of the bars play live music during the evening and you can get down with the locals, after a glass of local wine!

Beaches
La Rabita is the nearest beach to Albondon and is lovely, clean sandy beach with the option to hire
boats for fishing trips.

Climate
The Costa Tropical takes its name from the sub-tropical climate that it enjoys. With warm winters and long hot summers, the average temperature is around 20C.
